Forgive them anyway. If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives. Be kind anyway. If you are successful, you will win some unfaithful friends and some genuine enemies. Succeed anyway. If you are honest and sincere people may deceive you. Be honest and sincere anyway. What you spend years creating, others could destroy overnight. Create anyway. If you find serenity and happiness, some may be jealous. Be happy anyway. The good you do today, will often be forgotten. Do good anyway. Give the best you have, and it will never be enough. Give your best anyway. In the final analysis, it is between you and God. It was never between you and them anyway. -this version is credited to Mother Teresa It is not what you do for your children but what you have taught them to do for themselves that will make them successful human beings" To all the Marines of 1/6 God bless and keep you safe. May the angels protect you from danger always. Don't believe what your eyes are telling you. All they show is limitation. Look with your understanding, find out what you already know, and you'll see the way to fly. The greatest man in History, named Jesus. Had no servants, yet they called Him Master; had no degree, yet they called Him Teacher; had no medicines, yet they called Him Healer; had no army, yet kings feared Him; won no military battles, yet He conquered the world; committed no crime, yet ...they crucified Him; was buried in a tomb, yet He lives today... “May God give you...For every storm a rainbow, for every tear a smile, for every care a promise and a blessing in each trial. For every problem life sends, a faithful friend to share, for every sigh a sweet song, and an answer for each prayer.” Irish Blessing Let go? But I had so much invested. Countless tears. Sleepless nights. Then God whipsered, "Letting go means you trust that I can see what you can't...." TO ALL THE 1/6 MOMS:: ♥ “A Mother’s Prayer” (Reprinted from The Army Times) God, Father of Freedom, look after that boy of mine, wherever he may be. Walk in upon him. Keep his mind stayed on Thee. Talk with him during the silent watches of the night, and spur him to bravery whenever called upon to face the cruel foe. Transfer my prayer to his heart that he may know the lingering love I have bequeathed to him as an everlasting gift. Keep my boy contented and inspired by the never-dying faith in his mother’s God. He is my gift to freedom. May that freedom forever remain untarnished, God. Through the lonely and confusing hours of training and combat, and throughout all the long days of a hopeful victory, keep his spirit high and his purpose unwavering. Make him proud to all with whom he comes in contact, and make his influence a noonday light wherever his duty takes him. Satisfy the hunger in his soul with the knowledge of this daily prayer of mine. To my country and to the world’s freedom, O Heavenly Father, have I bequeathed this boy of mine. He is my choicest treasure. Take care of him, God. Keep him in health, and sustain him under every circumstance. Warm him anew under his shelter and under the stars. Touch him with my smile of cheer and comfort and my full confidence in his every brave pursuit. Silent and alone, I pray, God, but I am only one of millions of mothers, whose prayers stream day and night to You. This is our Gethsemane. Lead us victoriously through it, God. And lead that boy of mine through his. Fail him not . . . and may he not fail You, his country, or his mother. The Way To God) If my days were untroubled and my heart always light, Would I seek that fair land where there is no night? If I never grew weary with the weight of my load, Would I search for God’s Peace at the end of the road? If I never knew sickness and never felt pain, Would I reach for a hand to help and sustain? If I walked not with sorrow and lived without loss, Would my soul seek sweet solace at the foot of the cross? If all I desired was mine day by day, Would I kneel before God and earnestly pray? If God sent no “winter” to freeze me with fear, Would I yearn for the warmth of “spring” every year? I ask myself this and the answer is plain - If my life were all pleasure and I never knew pain I’d seek God less often and need Him much less, For God's sought more often in times of distress. And no one knows God or sees Him as plain As those who have met Him on “The Pathway of Pain.” Helen Steiner Rice. Inspiring Values of Unforgettable Teachers All of us recall special teachers — people who not only taught us but inspired us in ways that changed our lives. William Arthur Ward once said, "The mediocre teacher tells. The good teacher explains. The superior teacher demonstrates. The great teacher inspires." Here are five life-changing values inspired by unforgettable teachers. The Teachers I Will Always Remember... ... Taught the Value of Learning and Knowledge They were enthusiastic about their subject. However, they gave more than knowledge. They showed how learning could enhance creativity, spark interests, and uncover talents. They instilled in students a curiosity to learn and an undying passion to keep learning. ... Taught the Value of Respect They treated others with honor. They explained how kind words, and sometimes silence, could prevent hurtful confrontations and turn enemies into friends. They taught the value of respect for the community as well as the individual. ... Taught the Value of Integrity They demonstrated empathy for those who were ill or suffering from personal loss. They would go the extra mile to offer support. Their ethics inspired students to live with courage and approach life with honesty, dignity, and self-worth. ... Taught the Value of Responsibility They taught that personal actions have consequences and that the individual must be accountable for his or her choices. They emphasized that when people think others are to blame for problems, that very thought is the real problem. They taught that each student was ultimately responsible for his or her learning and its impact on their future. ... Taught the Value of Perseverance T...Expand for more
hey taught that education continues until our last breath. They told stories about the hard times they had faced, and how God had often turned difficulties into blessings. They refused to let students quit after repeated failures. They demonstrated that "Faith is the assurance of things not yet seen." Not all of these teachers taught in formal classrooms. Nor did they all have a formal education. Some of them are still teaching, and the education they provide is priceless. I believe that the greatest gifts we can give our children are the same kind of values these teachers demonstrate. Then our children can also become unforgettable teachers, sharing values that will inspire happiness and faith for future generations. When I woke up this morning, I asked myself, "What is life about?" I found the answer in my room... --The fan said, "Be cool." --The roof said, "Aim high." --The window said, "See the world!" --The clock said, "Every minute is precious." --The mirror said, "Reflect before you act." --The calendar said, "Be up to date." --The door said, "Push hard for your goals." --The floor said, "Kneel down and pray." To You "It doesn't interest me what you do for a living. I want to know what you ache for, and if you dare to dream of meeting your heart's longing. It doesn't interest me how old you are. I want to know if you will risk looking like a fool for love, for your dream, for the adventure of being alive. It doesn't interest me what planets are squaring your moon. I want to know if you have touched the center of your own sorrow, if you have been opened by life's betrayals or have become shriveled and closed from fear of further pain!I want to know if you can sit with pain, mine or your own, without moving to hide it or fade it, or fix it. I want to know if you can be with joy, mine or your own, if you can dance with wildness and let the ecstasy fill you to the tips of your fingers and toes without cautioning us to be careful, to be realistic, to remember the limitations of being human. It doesn't interest me if the story you are telling me is true. I want to know if you can disappoint another to be true to yourself; if you can bear the accusation of betrayal and not betray your own soul; if you can be faithlessand therefore trustworthy. I want to know if you can see beauty even when it's not pretty, every day,and if you can source your own life from its presence. I want to know if you can live with failure, yours and mine, and still stand on the edge of the lake and shout to the silver of the full moon, “Yes!” It doesn't interest me to know where you live or how much money you have. I want to know if you can get up, after the night of grief and despair, weary and bruised to the bone, and do what needs to be done to feed the children. It doesn't interest me who you know or how you came to be here. I want to know if you will stand in the center of the fire with me and not shrink back. It doesn't interest me where or what or with whom you have studied. I want to know what sustains you, from the inside, when all else falls away. I want to know if you can be alone with yourself and if you truly like the company you keep in the empty moments." When my son joined the Corps, I asked favor of God, To watch over my son and take care of his squad. And on days when His watch is needed elsewhere, For those times, my request was a special prayer. There was something I'd heard that's unique to the Corps, Something I'd never heard of before. When I heard the story, it reassured my heart, Because it's something that sets Marines apart. When a Marine is assigned to his final squad, And the man with top rank is none other than God, He knows for his service, his reward will be great, For it's only Marines who guard Heaven's Gate. So in my prayer to God, it is this that I asked, I knew only a Marine could manage the task, Please search through your ranks for just the right man, One who knows combat and knows the game plan. For those times when my son finds himself in harm's way, Please dispatch that sentinel, without delay. Appoint a Marine to keep watch on my son, And please send him back home, once his mission is done. I sleep better at night, I know my son's in good hands, I know God hears my prayers and He understands. My son doesn't know it, but wherever he's at, There's a Marine up in heaven who's got his back. ...It Only Takes a Second These continue to humble me Dad. Please keep it up. The only way we, as a society aimed at bettering each other, our professions and our Nation, is to learn from the mistakes and misgivings from others and apply them to our daily lives so: 1. Events like yesterday are not repeated 2. People step back and realize their "bad/ hellashish days" are no way close to what those on the front line encounter 3. A face can be associated with a significant event making it more personal rather than journalism prattle 4. People remember that the backbone of our country is made up of 18-22 year old PVT's, PFC's, LCP's and CPL's who HAVE and will CONTINUE to SACRIFICE themselves for a cause greater than themselves, the safety, security of our country and her citizens (note, they will never say that, for they are too humble to admit it). Much like we noted in the New Years resolution note.... people tend to forget.... Leaders are those that see the connections from significant events and apply them to daily life. The scum of the earth remain focused in destroying our way of life. Some people question our involvement in this war. If our Nation was not persistent with a presence of force in Afghanistan, whos to say the bomber from yesterday, could have detonated himself on 6th St and Congress on a Friday night? But as stated in the sobering poem "The Soldiers Night Before Christmas:" "...Dont cry, this life is my choice; I fight for freedom, I don't ask for more, my life is God, Country and Corps." What this letter is attempting to sum up is this: What do you fight for? A better progress report? Less attention from the Boss? Better wages? Your Brother on your left and right? A better life for you family? Whatever the case maybe, something propels us from our normal state, and encourages us to execute. Whatever it is you fight for, PERSIST, BELIEVE, BLEED, and SUCCEED, for your attempts stateside are possible because of the brave Marines and coalition soldiers much like our Hero CPL from yesterday who make such actions possible. Never Forget the sacrifices of those before us, so that our lives today are tolerable, and free from the scum that seek to harm those we love. I wish I could talk to you Dad. There is so much I have learned, and need to share. Leadership is trying and at times a thankless job. But the internal flame of hope, persistence, and a will can carry on will see me through. Our job is far from over. I look forward in seeing you in person.".
